On the journey to become a Titus 2 Woman.
I am no expert in today’s fashion but when I try to observe it, especially women’s fashion, it changes from time to time. What is in or “uso” last year may not be this year. From the color, to the texture, to the length, to the amount of flesh revealed, the world lives by the mantra, “If you have it; flaunt it” and “be confident in your own flesh”
What’s wrong with that?
The Bible says otherwise.
”In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;” I Timothy 2:9
I know, I know, you may have heard of this topic countless of times before and may even say, “Im wearing my best every Sunday for the Lord” but the point of this short article is to challenge Christian women to honor God by dressing appropriately according to the Scripture.
Many Christian women today have the same mindset as the world of fashion. What is in before may not be in anymore. So what they do? They make some “minor” tweaks on how they dress but still believe they’re not crossing the line between modest and immodest apparel. Skirts a little shorter but not too short, Neckline a little lower but not too low, clothes a little fitter but not too fit.
You know what? That gray area is where compromise starts and where women start to think that every minor tweak is okay until you’re out there defending that what you’re wearing is nice rather than thinking if it’s even God-honoring anymore.
I’m leaving you with this verse that you’ve heard hundreds of times already:
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Yes, modest clothes may not be part of today’s fashion but it’ll be forever right and acceptable in the sight of the Lord. And just so you know, it’s not the clothes you wear that makes you beautiful, it’s your character.
Bring back the high standards of modesty! 😊
